Harvest

Before harvesting, each cultivar is checked for different characteristics, for example the quality of the skin and the acid sensitivity of the bulb. A combination of these characteristics determine the maturity state of the bulb. If this is at the right stage, the bulbs are ready to be harvested. This is different for each cultivar.

Harvesting is done fully mechanical. The nets which contain the bulbs will be lifted and rolled by the harvesting machine. The bulbs are sifted on the machine to separate as much soil as possible. The bulbs then fall into boxes that can contain about 600-750 kilograms.

The boxes will be transported with our own transport to the company. Here, all the bulbs will be washed.
